Cost-Effective Surface Crack Detection for Critical Assets
At MB Engineering & Inspection Services, our Liquid Penetrant Testing (LPT) service offers a highly effective, non-destructive method for detecting surface-breaking flaws in non-porous materials such as metals, plastics, and ceramics. This technique plays a vital role in identifying defects that are invisible to the naked eye but critical to asset reliability and safety.
What is LPT?
LPT involves applying a specially formulated liquid dye (penetrant) to the surface of a clean, dry component. After a suitable dwell time, excess penetrant is removed, and a developer is applied. Any surface cracks or discontinuities will trap the penetrant and become clearly visible under UV or visible light during inspection.
Why Choose Our LPT Services?
Ideal for detecting hairline cracks, surface porosity, and fatigue fractures
Suitable for non-ferrous materials (where magnetic testing is not applicable)
Highly sensitive method for quality control in welds, castings, and machined parts
Conducted by qualified LPT inspectors in accordance with ASME, ISO, and ASTM standards
Adaptable for on-site inspections in maritime, plant, and equipment environments
Applications at MB Engineering Include:
Surface inspection of ship structural components and weld joints
Evaluating fatigue damage in port cranes and plant equipment
Validating weld quality in pressure vessels and storage tanks
Pre-inspection before coating or painting processes
Our LPT services ensure that no critical flaw goes unnoticed, reducing risk, enhancing compliance, and improving the longevity and operational integrity of your assets.
